Inspired by her time living in Hawaii, trips to Catalina Island and Santa Barbara, this Newport Beach resident has created a laid-back luxe, eclectic home décor and handbag line with colorful patterns that will be sure to strike up a conversation at your next girl’s night out – or backyard BBQ.
Started in 2014, Brenda Kristine was born out of a need for Brenda’s daughter Emily to differentiate her makeup bag at cheer practice. Everyone had the same bag, so Brenda picked out a funky fabric and sewed the first Brenda Kristine bag. Soon after, other moms were asking for bags for their daughters and the rest is history – the classic ‘Conversation Bag’ was born, and known around town for its fun prints, contrast zippers, and cool casual embellishments. Selling out on Instagram and getting backordered for custom orders, Brenda launched the e-commerce site in 2016, and has since expanded the line to include leather goods, bucket bags, and home décor items.
Together with her husband, sports apparel industry vet Greg Ziegler, the dynamic husband-wife-duo work together – with Brenda taking the lead on all things creative and design, and Greg managing the business side of things. Prior to starting Brenda Kristine, Brenda attended FIDM in Los Angeles and is a pattern maker by trade. When they’re not busy designing and running a business, the couple can be found entertaining at their home in Newport Beach, traveling with friends, and spending time with their three children.
